12:02 am - Video of Yukikaze experimental movie
Previously I posted the pictures of the experimental movie. Now the video version is available on you tube here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQN_EJiXBAg

The first half is of course from episode 5 while the last half is the movie made as the teaser how the anime would look like with Bluray technology... Pity not a sequel or anything. Merely a bonus for fan.

THE BEST THING HERE IS REI's SMILE!!!

A little bit of news. Apparently Chohei Kanbayashi was nominated for his latest novel Yukikaze: Unbroken Arrow at the 49th Japanese National Science Fiction Convention which seems to be equivalent to the Hugo awards.

Here's hoping we get more novels translated!

02:07 pm - Image pack request
Hi there, I have a bit of an odd request. A while back I found scans of a mini-artbook with Yumi Tada's artwork for Yukikaze in it. I believe it was on a Russian website, but I no longer remember what that website was called.
Anyway, my hard drive crashed a while ago and I lost those scans, and I was wondering if anyone would still happen to have those images, and if they did if they could please upload them for me.
For references, my icon is from one of the images.

Thanks!

And since I didn't see it here, Yumi Tada has a twitter, and she updates it regularly. Her tweets used to be all in English, but recently she's gone back to Japanese.

08:30 pm - Novel: initial impression
Just finished reading the novel 10 minutes ago. Initial thoughts:

1. The translator Neil Nadelman deserves a round of applause for his efforts. The English translation is coherent and reads like natural English which is no small feat. Incidentally he's also the one who worked on the anime translation. The paper is good quality and the font is easy to read.

2. Jack's last name is "Booker". I'm going to ignore this^_~

3. The novel is made of 8 chapters that are linked together and the focus is heavy on the characters and their place in the world. Thankfully that part matches the anime. Actually, you're going to get deja-vu moments because the staff at Gonzo did an excellent job of turning the novel/its characters/world into the anime.

4. There are 2 sequels to this novel written in 1999 and 2009 which will be published if this one sells well. So go buy, people!

5. There is more information on JAM, FAF, and on the backgrounds of Rei and Jack. A lot of the moments in the anime make better sense now after reading the novel since it shows the parts that were difficult to translate into visual.

6. There is an abbreviation/acronym sheet at the end which is perfect for fanfic!

7. The only drawback is this novel ends... well, let's say I want the sequel "Good Luck, Yukikaze" because there are parts of it in the anime and I get twitchy thinking it might not be published^^

For the Jack/Rei fans, check page.211. Lovely bit of dialogue^_~
